Advance your medical career with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) concentration from Lincoln Memorial University! We've designed this program specifically to prepare registered nurses (RN) like you for an advanced role with competencies in family health promotion and culturally competent clinical management of common conditions across the life span.
The MSN-FNP concentration is a 17-month program comprised of 43 semester hours of graduate-level coursework and a minimum of 660 clinical hours. While LMU offers both a seated and online format for the program and you can choose to enroll in either full- or part-time study, you will be expected to take a comprehensive exam during your final semester in addition to completing a directed scholarly project.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner, you will fill a crucial role in the healthcare field, providing care for people of all ages. By completing our MSN-FNP program, you will earn the necessary eligibility requirements needed for the FNP certification exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). (If you plan to practice in a state other than Tennessee, you will need to contact the state board of nursing for additional details about advanced practice nursing in your desired state.)
During your time in the program, most clinical placements will be within commuting distance of your attending site. If you reside further away from the attending site and can help your faculty identify a willing and capable preceptor in your home community, we may be able to secure a clinical placement in your home area. Clinical placements may be in private practices, community health centers, public health centers and other settings to help you meet your educational needs. Our caring faculty will work closely with clinical preceptors to help you make the most of your practical experiences.

At LMU, we have "rolling admissions," meaning submitted applications are reviewed and potentially approved in the order that they are received. Because of this, we recommend that you submit your application early, preferably one or two semesters prior to the semester you intend to begin at LMU, but we will consider later applications.
