The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required for students receiving an Academic Excellence Award. The FAFSA is available starting October 1 each year. For the 25-26 award year, the FAFSA will open on or before December 1, 2024. LMU's school code is 003502. Students must enroll at least half-time to be eligible for an Academic Excellence Award, and the amounts are pro-rated based on enrollment status if not enrolled full-time. Undergraduate students accepted to LMU will be considered for an Academic Excellence Award. All scholarships are renewable for three additional years, provided the student maintains a cumulative 2.0 GPA. Academic Excellence Award recipients are expected to take an active part in student life by becoming involved in at least one of the University's recognized student organizations (for which you are not receiving scholarship money) each semester. Recipients are encouraged to complete 10 hours of campus/community service each semester.
NOTE: All academic awards must be applied toward required tuition, books, fees, housing, and food expenses. All other financial aid, including federal, state, and outside scholarships and institutional grants, will be credited to the student's account first, with the academic award picking up the balance of the student's institutional aid eligibility. No cash refunds will be made. Students enrolled in the online RN-BSN program are not eligible for Academic Excellence Awards.
Each year, Lincoln Memorial University awards incoming students with Academic Excellence Awards. These scholarships help make LMU an affordable choice. The amounts listed are yearly and are divided between the Fall and Spring semesters.

Cornerstone Scholarship: Students may qualify for $8,000 towards their freshman year if they have an average high school GPA of 3.0.
Academic Excellence Awards are awarded to incoming transfer students based on their college GPA. The amounts listed are yearly and are divided between the Fall and Spring semesters.

LMU also offers a scholarship to transfer students who are already current Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society members. Awards are worth half-tuition per year. To qualify, students must be a member in good standing of the society, have a cumulative 3.0 GPA, and cannot already have a bachelor's degree. The Lincoln Grant is a need-based grant that full-time students may receive based on the FAFSA results. A student with an unmet need may be eligible for this grant. The students’ need determines the amount awarded. The FAFSA must be completed each year to be considered for the Lincoln Grant. Lincoln Grant may be impacted by other funding received, including external scholarships, federal and state scholarships and grants, and the academic excellence award. Students already holding a baccalaureate degree and returning for a second degree are not eligible for Lincoln Grant.
The Legacy Scholarship is given to students whose immediate family members attended and graduated from LMU. The award amount is up to $1,000 for the year or $500 per semester. To qualify, a student must be enrolled at least half-time, and the amount is pro-rated based on enrollment status.
If a student is eligible to receive a Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) award and attends the Harrogate campus of LMU, we offer the institutional LMU Kentucky Award. The LMU KY Award replaces the KEES money the student would have been eligible for if attending an institution in KY.
Athletic Awards are awarded to student-athletes through each specific athletic team.
Lincoln Memorial University greatly benefits from the generosity of donors who have made annual and endowed scholarships possible for our students. The annual and endowed scholarship application is available for all current LMU students and those who have been accepted for the upcoming academic year. The application and all supporting documentation must be submitted by January 31st.
Students may access the application from MyLMU's "Quick Links" tab. Select the "Annual and Endowed Scholarship Portal" option from that menu and log in (if prompted) using your LMU credentials.

Federal Pell Grants are available to undergraduate students and provide a foundation to which other forms of financial aid may be added. To determine eligibility, the U.S. Department of Education uses a standard formula established by Congress to evaluate the information you report on the FAFSA. The maximum Pell Grant award for 2024-2025 is $7,395.
The amount of Pell Grant awarded is based on the student's anticipated enrollment status for the academic year. The amount varies based on enrollment intensity. The U.S. Department of Education limits the amount of Pell Grant a student can receive to the equivalent of six full-time years, or 600%.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG) are awarded to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need who receive Pell Grants in that award year. The average FSEOG award at Lincoln Memorial University is $600-$1,200 annually.
The Tennessee Eligibility Verification for Entitlement Act (EVEA) requires that institutions of higher education verify that anyone seeking a state public benefit (including state financial aid) is a United States citizen or lawfully present in the United States. For most students, verification will be completed when citizenship or eligible non-citizenship status is confirmed by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If verification is not completed through the FAFSA, the Office of Student Financial Services will request documentation from the student.
To receive Tennessee state financial aid, students must be Tennessee residents as classified pursuant to TCA 49-8-104. The Office of Student Financial Services will use information from the admissions application to verify TN residency. If any conflicting information regarding residency exists, the student will be notified and will be required to submit proof of residency in accordance with TCA 49-8-104.
To prevent a delay in receiving TN funds, make sure that Lincoln Memorial University is set as your institution by logging into the TSAC Student Portal. Before dropping courses, always check with the Office of Student Financial Services to see how it may affect your financial aid.

The Tennessee Student Assistance Award (TSAA) grant was established to provide non-repayable financial assistance to financially needy undergraduate students who are residents of Tennessee. To qualify, the Student Aid Index (SAI) must be 3,500 or less. Funding for TSAA is limited. To receive priority consideration, students are strongly encouraged to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after October 1 each year. Students who receive TSAA will receive it again the following year if they meet the eligibility requirements and complete their FAFSA on or before April 15. TSAA will then be awarded to the neediest applicants who did not receive the award the prior year and completed their FAFSA by April 15. The maximum award amount is up to $4,000 per academic year. This grant is only available during the fall and spring terms.

The TN HOPE Scholarship is awarded to entering freshmen who are TN residents and graduate from a TN-eligible high school with a minimum score of 21 ACT (or 1060 SAT) or an overall minimum 3.0 GPA. Completion of the FAFSA is a requirement each year. To retain the HOPE Scholarship, the student must:
A student may receive HOPE until an advanced degree is earned or five years have passed from the date of initial enrollment at any postsecondary institution, whichever occurs first. Freshmen and sophomores may receive up to $2,250 per semester, and juniors and seniors may receive up to $2,850 per semester. Nontraditional students may qualify for the HOPE Scholarship if they are independent based on the FAFSA, have an AGI of $36,000 or less on their IRS tax form, and have a minimum GPA of 2.75 after 12 attempted semester hours or required GPA at subsequent benchmark. Note: The Office of Student Financial Services may award the HOPE Scholarship on an estimated basis or hold off on awarding it until all final transcripts are received to determine eligibility.
The Aspire Award is a need-based supplement to the HOPE Scholarship. Students eligible for HOPE may receive the Aspire Award if the parents' or independent student's (and spouse's) adjusted gross income is $36,000 or less on their IRS tax forms. The General Assembly Merit Scholarship (GAMS) is a merit-based supplement to the HOPE Scholarship. To qualify, the student must be HOPE eligible and have a minimum 29 on the ACT and a 3.75 final GPA. Homeschool students have additional criteria to meet. The GAMS award is up to $500 per semester. Students may receive either GAMS or the Aspire Award, but not both. The TN Promise Scholarship is a last-dollar scholarship awarded to entering freshmen enrolled full-time in an associate degree program. Students must file a FAFSA, complete the TN Promise application on the TSAC Student Portal, attend mandatory meetings, perform community service, and participate in a mentoring program. To determine award amounts, the state sets a rate for private universities to use that is comparable to a community college rate. From that rate, we must subtract any HOPE, TSAA, and Pell Grant amounts a student is eligible for, and what is remaining is what the student is awarded in TN Promise funds. The TN Reconnect Grant is awarded to independent students (as determined by the FAFSA). Recipients may not have previously earned an associate or baccalaureate degree. Students must enroll at least half-time in an associate degree program, file a FAFSA, complete the TN Reconnect application on the TSAC Student Portal, participate in a college success program (as determined by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission), and maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students attending the Corbin or Lexington campuses of Lincoln Memorial University who are KY residents may be eligible to receive Kentucky state scholarships and grants administered by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA).
At least 50% of the classes a student enrolls in must be in-seat courses for a student to receive KY state funds. The Office of Student Financial Services typically awards KY state funds closer to the start of the semester to confirm enrollment hours and the percentage of in-seat courses. The Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) program provides scholarships to students who earn at least a 2.5 GPA each year of attendance at a certified KY high school. The better a student does in high school, the more money they earn toward college. If not enrolled full-time, KEES award amounts are pro-rated based on enrollment. The KEES award expires whenever the first of the following conditions are met: eight semesters of KEES funds have been used, five years have passed since high school graduation or a bachelor’s degree is earned. To maintain eligibility, the student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher at the end of their first year of college. At the end of the second, third, or fourth year of college, the student must have either a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher or a cumulative GPA at or between 2.5 and 2.99 and be certified as on track to graduate. For students eligible to receive KEES but attending the Harrogate campus of LMU, we offer the LMU KY Award, which is institutional aid that replaces the KEES funds.
The Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG) is need-based aid to help Kentucky residents attend eligible Kentucky private colleges. To qualify, a student must be enrolled full-time. The state awards funds on a first-come, first-served basis. For the 2024-2025 academic year, the maximum KTG award amount is $3,300. Other scholarships and grants a student receives may reduce or eliminate the financial need for KTG. For complete information, visit KHEAA.
The College Access Program (CAP) Grant is a Kentucky state grant for financially needy students. Eligible students must enroll at least half-time. Award amounts are pro-rated based on enrollment. Students attending the Tampa, FL campus of Lincoln Memorial University may be eligible to receive Florida state financial assistance from programs including, but not limited to, the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program and the Florida Student Assistance Grant Program. Everyone loses when financial constraints prevent a promising student from enrolling in law school. LMU Law is pleased to provide substantial merit-based scholarships. Scholarships are reserved for students with superior academic backgrounds, outstanding leadership qualities, a track record of community service, need, and other qualities worthy of recognition. These financial awards recognize each recipient's potential for success in our program and will be credited toward their tuition.
